Flowers, one of nature's gifts have mysterious subtle influence
on our feelings - anticipation, delight, wonder, sensuous
seduction, sadness and promise, and evoke memories. Throughout
the seasons I take wonderous appreciation and delight in flowers,
their colors, forms, fragrances and ephemeral beauty.
"I
perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers", Claude
Monet said. Perhaps I too owe them for becoming a photographer.
They are continuous sources of wonder and joy, and sustain
my passion in the visual arts. Sheer Delights and Beyond is
a series of 38 colorful floral images. In figurative and abstract
manner, capturing flowers’ prime moment of blossom,
I express and share my feelings of beauty, wonder, love, just
sheer delight
I
was born and raised in Korea. After graduating from college,
I came to Ann Arbor to pursue graduate studies in Education
at the University of Michigan. A student of adult and lifelong
learning, my area of academic pursuit when I was a graduate
student, I have been photographing for over 15 years. Mainly
self taught, I augmented my photographic knowledge and skills
by taking workshops and classes at Washtenaw Community College
over the years. I continue to learn and enjoy ever evolving
digital photographic processes. Various tools/techniques in
Photoshop allow me to express/expand my vision and emotion.
Whether it’s subtle enhancement or significant altering,
I enjoy the creative process unfolding in front of my eyes
this time adding my mind’s eye and my heart into the
scenes that I captured. |
